But I find it hard to imagine that with all the advancement in technology and social indicators that we cannot accurately predict political behaviours.
If we were to take a ride in a taxi and start a conversation with the driver, we could easily get a quick insight into the mood of the nation. Big data will only get you so far, but a conversation will give you insight into people's hearts.
The media as a whole were inaccurate in their prediction of the outcome of the elections because they were disconnected from the majority of people. Too many were busy pushing the agenda of the established order and missed the important issues within our society. The storm of change is gathering, our society is broken and can not be fixed by one man or woman.
Sometimes because of change in the leadership, we think that respite means the issues are dealt with but ultimately the issues will always resurface. Every type of government that is man-made is unable to eradicate the problem within our society.
If we want to see change within our homes, community and nation we have to find a way to transform the people. The problem lies with every citizen, we built the political systems that we complain about and we affirm the different offices that sit within it. These offices have taken more and more power and influence away from us.
Many nations have accepted democracy as the norm, questioning every other political system and perceiving them to be abnormal. Most citizens do not explore beyond the status quo because the media and other outlets influenced by the government have programmed us not to do so. But in my view, the political, social and economic problems we are facing is due to God shaking the kingdoms around us.
Hebrews 12:27 says this phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.”
Every issue and problem around us are there to shake or test our political systems and unveil to us the inability of these systems to produce citizens who are empowered to deal with the problems we are facing.
Man's decision-making process (political systems) will always experience a shaking to highlight its foundations. But the kingdom of God has the only political system that can withstand the shaking. Jesus the King, his Law, government and citizenship is the only stable system of governance that will help us through the coming storms.
